Black Alumni Weekend 2023

Black Alumni Weekend will take place concurrently with Homecoming Weekend, November 10 - 12, 2023. This three-day event will have all of the things you love about Black Alumni Weekend alongside the fun of Homecoming programming. 


Black Alumni Weekend programming is being planned in partnership with the Amherst Society of Black Alumni and will include open classes, a career panel, Black Church, conversations with students, networking opportunities, celebrations of Black scholarship and culture and much more. This year the College will also observe the 50th anniversary of Gerald Penny’s tragic death in 1973.

Black Alumni Community Town Hall: A Conversation with President Michael A. Elliott '92

Join President Michael A. Elliott ‘92 and Trustees Chantal Kordula '94 and the Reverend Phillip A. Jackson '85 as the President shares updates on the latest happenings at the College; the College’s efforts to support Black students, faculty, staff, and alumni; and the College's preparations for the pending Supreme Court decision on race-conscious admissions.

The second half of the program will be open Q&A. Please submit your questions in advance through the event registration form.

This event is supported by the Amherst Society of Black Alumni, the organization created by Black Amherst alumni to develop and nurture a strong and engaged Black Amherst College community.

This will be a lively conversation with President Elliott, as well as an opportunity to connect with fellow alumni and build excitement for our upcoming Black Alumni Weekend this fall.

Esteemed Amherst College Black Alumni discuss the state of Black professionals in medicine. Given our continued global pandemic, we will discuss the significance of this moment and how far we have to go to secure public safety, and what we, as individuals can do to bring that to fruition.
